Sebastian King, Keith lead Newton bowlers to sweep of Eagles

Cardinal girls improve to 8-1 for the season

PELLA — A career day for Sebastian King helped Newton’s boys bowling team down Pella Christian on Saturday.

Libbie Keith was the top female bowler for the day as the Cardinals improved to 8-1 on the season after their dominant win over the Eagles at The Dutch 200 Bowl & Grill.

Newton’s boys rolled past Pella Christian 2,464 to 1,909 and it was King’s career-best 411 series that led the way. He opened his day with a career-best 248 single game and then had a 163.

The Cardinals had six of the top eight scores in both girls and boys competition. The girls defeated Pella Christian 2,238 to 1,784.

Newton’s boys led the Eagles 1,726 to 1,285 after the individual games. The Cardinals won the Bakers round 738 to 624.

Dallas King was second overall for Newton. He rolled a 364 series with single games of 183 and 181.

David Holmes (339 series), Owen Guldberg (320) and Logan Bown (292) were the next three. Holmes rolled single games of 191 and 148 and Bown tallied a 153 and 139.

Guldberg opened with a season-best 186 then rolled a 134 for a season-best 320 series.

Austin Kennedy rounded out the varsity lineup with a 252 series after single games of 121 and 131.

The boys JV1 team was led by Tyler Padgett’s 338 series and Tamion Adams rolled a 314. Alex Allspach’s 311 series led the JV2 team.

Pella Christian (1-6) was led by Jack Zula, who finished sixth overall with a 281 series.

Keith’s team-best 332 series led the Cardinals in the girls’ matchup. She rolled single games of 180 and 152.

Bailey Hansen (311) was second, Nevaeh Bown (305) took third and Beka Weithers (290) placed fifth. Hansen had single games of 158 and 153, Nevaeh Bown had single games of 166 and 139 and Weithers’ single games were 132 and 158.

Genessa Slings finished with a 253 series with single games of 141 and 112 and Kaitlyn Gifford had a 230 series with back-to-back 115 games.

Alexa Klaasen led Pella Christian (1-6) with a 303 series, which placed her fourth overall.

The Newton girls JV team was led by Hannah Schwickerath’s 235 series.
