L-S wrestling falls three times at road quadrangular

Walston, Hay, Gosselink go 3-0 in Hawks’ dual losses

MARTENSDALE — Gentry Walston, Terran Gosselink and Malcolm Hay all went 3-0 for the night, but Lynnville-Sully’s wrestling team dropped all three duals during a road quadrangular on Tuesday.

The Hawks were edged 41-36 by Chariton and fell 57-16 to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and lost 39-14 to host Martensdale-St. Marys.

L-S gave up 18 forfeits in the three duals. The Hawks were 5-6 in contested matches.

Against Chariton, Lynnville-Sully was 2-0 in contested matches and took four forfeits but also gave up seven forfeits. Walston (120) and Brodey Johnson (145) both won by fall and Gosselink (132), Caleb Rea (138), Reese Dunsbergen (160) and Hay (170) all took forfeits.

In the loss to EBF, Gosselink claimed the Hawks’ only contested win. They were 1-3 in those matches and Walston and Hay took the forfeits. The Rockets were given seven forfeits.

The Hawks were 2-3 in contested matches and took one forfeit. The contested winners were Gosselink and Hay, who won by major decision and fall, respectively. Walston took a forfeit at 120.
