L-S wrestlers finish 1-2 at road quadrangular

Walston, Stoll go 3-0 for the night

SIGOURNEY — Gentry Walston and Skyler Stoll both went 3-0, but Lynnville-Sully’s wrestling team was plagued by too many forfeits during a road quadrangular on Thursday.

The Hawks went 1-2 on the night with the win coming against Central Decatur.

Lynnville-Sully defeated C-D 51-6 but lost 54-24 to BGM and 60-22 to Sigourney-Keota.

Walston, who is ranked 10th in Class 1A at 120 pounds, was 3-0 with two forfeits and one pin. Stoll (126) had two pins and took one forfeit in his 3-0 night.

In the win over Central Decatur, there were four double forfeits, the Hawks took three forfeits and they were 6-0 in contested matches.

Trevor Van Wyk (138), Maxwell Mintle (152), Caleb Rea (132) and Malcolm Hay (170) all won by fall, while Brodey Johnson (145) won 16-0 and Miles Mintle (195) scored a 17-8 major decision.

Walston, Stoll and Reese Dunsbergen (160) all took forfeits.

In the loss to BGM, the Hawks took one forfeit, gave up four forfeits and were 3-5 in contested matches.

Walston took the forfeit and Stoll, Van Wyk and Hay all won by fall.

Sigourney-Keota was given five forfeit wins and was 5-4 in contested matches against L-S.

The contested wins for the Hawks came from Walston, Stoll, 1A No. 12 Max Mintle and Miles Mintle. Stoll and Miles Mintle won by fall and Max Mintle and Walston each won by technical fall.

Van Wyk, Max Mintle, Miles Mintle and Hay all went 2-1 for the night. Van Wyk and Hay won twice by fall, while Maxwell Mintle won once by fall and once by technical fall and Miles Mintle won once by fall and once by major decision.
