MONROE — Roland-Story’s third quarter was too much for PCM’s boys basketball team to recover from on Tuesday night.
The undefeated Norse led by six at halftime but pulled away from the Mustangs with a big third frame during a 77-54 road win in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
PCM and Roland-Story both scored 16 points in the first quarter and 13 in the fourth. The 28-11 third quarter was the difference in the game.
Durant Van Dyke filled up the stat sheet for the Mustangs, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and four blocks.

Carson VandeLune was the only other Mustang in double-figures as he registered 10 points and two assists. Jacob Wendt tallied eight points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Cade Lindsay recorded six points and three boards, Matt Rosonke had five points, three rebounds and two assists and Gavin Van Gorp led the reserves with six points and two boards.
Keaton Thomas had three points and two rebounds for PCM, which got nine bench points in the game.
The Mustangs (5-6 overall, 3-3 in the HOIC) shot 41 percent from the floor, 7-of-21 from 3-point range and 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. PCM committed 22 turnovers.
Roland-Story had just nine turnovers and four players reached double-digits in points.
Jonovan Wilkinson led the Norse (8-0, 6-0) with 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Isaiah Naylor recorded 20 points, five assists and four steals and Luke Patton added 19 points and eight rebounds.
Roland-Story shot 47.5 percent from the floor, hit 11-of-25 from long range and made 10-of-15 from the charity stripe.
GIRLS
Roland-Story 61, PCM 23
Class 3A No. 11 Roland-Story was too much for PCM’s girls basketball team on Tuesday.
The Lady Norse outscored the Mustangs 20-4 in the second and 22-6 in the third and won the conference game 61-23.
Riley Johannes finished with six points and three rebounds off the bench to lead the Mustangs.

Sophia Steenhoek had four points and two rebounds, Paige Steenhoek tallied three points and three boards and Eliana Buswell chipped in three points, two rebounds and three steals off the bench.
Addison Steenhoek registered three rebounds, two assists and two steals, Evelyn Burkett grabbed five boards and dished out two assists and Emily Foster pulled down a pair of rebounds.
The Mustangs (3-8, 3-3) shot 19 percent from the floor, hit 3-of-17 from 3-point range and connected on 6-of-12 from the line. PCM committed 28 turnovers.
The Lady Norse (6-2, 6-0) shot 47 percent from the floor and buried 13-of-20 from the foul line. Roland-Story had a 23-11 advantage in bench points.
