CHARITON — Colfax-Mingo’s girls basketball team ran into a pair of talented squads in back-to-back nights.
The first matchup came against Chariton and a slow start plagued the Tigerhawks during a 69-24 non-conference road loss on Monday.
Colfax-Mingo was held to single digits in each quarter, shot 21 percent from the floor and committed 19 turnovers.
Carley Underwood led the Tigerhawks with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals and Abi Rawlins registered eight points and two rebounds.
Caylee Cunningham grabbed five boards and dished out two assists, Charlotte Donahue had four rebounds and Kyra Lester pulled down three boards.
The Tigerhawks were 0-of-11 from 3-point range and made 10-of-18 from the free-throw line.
Chariton (2-0) led 22-4 after one quarter and outscored the Tigerhawks 33-12 in the second half.
Emma Rector finished with 16 points and 10 assists for the Chargers, while Avery Hall had 19 points and eight boards, Mckenzie Snook registered 14 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals and Leah Doran tallied 10 points and 12 boards.
Chariton out-rebounded Colfax-Mingo 38-18 and shot 47 percent from the floor.

North Mahaska 73, Colfax-Mingo 31
NEW SHARON — Class 1A No. 8 North Mahaska led 21-3 after one and outscored the Tigerhawks 29-12 in the second half during a 73-31 home win in South Iowa Cedar League play on Tuesday.
Rawlins led the Tigerhawks with 14 points and two assists, Underwood added eight points, six rebounds and two assists and Lester chipped in five points and three rebounds.
Madison Riddle added four points and three rebounds, Cunningham registered three rebounds and four assists and Donahue grabbed five boards.
The Tigerhawks (1-2 overall, 0-1 in SICL play) shot 25 percent from the floor despite making 6-of-13 from long range, committed 24 turnovers and hit 3-of-8 from the foul line.
Layla Hargis led North Mahaska (1-1, 1-0) with 18 points and eight rebounds.
