PCM wrestlers down Van Meter in road quadrangular

Fry goes 3-0 to lead Mustangs in season openers

VAN METER — Remington Fry was 3-0 on the night, but PCM’s wrestling team won just once during a road quadrangular in the season opener on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs downed host Van Meter 48-33 but lost 39-33 to Ogden and 64-18 to Greene County.

In the win over Van Meter, PCM recorded five wins by pin and three by forfeit. The pins came from Trigg Steenhoek (126), Hewitt Brinegar (132), William Vanderpool (182), Wyatt Wheeler (220) and Kaden Clark (285).

Steenhoek, Brinegar and Wheeler joined Fry as Mustangs who registered wins by fall against Ogden. Donovan Nickelson also won his only match of the night 10-3 at 170 pounds against the Bulldogs.

In the loss to Greene County, Fry was a winner by fall. He finished 3-0 with two pins on the night.

Steenhoek, Brinegar, Wheeler, Clark and Tate Birkenholtz all were 2-1. Birkenholtz took a pair of forfeits.
