C-M volleyball claims team title at ACGC

GUTHRIE CENTER — The end result at the ACGC volleyball tournament on Saturday was just what Colfax-Mingo ordered.

The Tigerhawks gained an extreme bit of confidence after finishing the day 4-1. They also avenged their only loss in the tournament when they downed host ACGC in the championship match.

Colfax-Mingo swept Perry 21-11, 21-13 and went three sets in the other four matches. They downed West Central Valley 19-21, 21-12, 15-5 and took care of Audubon 21-10, 17-21, 15-10.

The Chargers won the first match with the Tigerhawks 12-21, 21-14, 15-6. Colfax-Mingo won the rematch to win the title, rallying from an early hole to win 11-21, 21-16, 16-14.

The Tigerhawks (9-4) served up 10 aces in the win over ACGC (7-9). Kyra Lester and Morgan Van Dyke both earned spots on the all-tournament team and they were fantastic in the title match.

Lester finished with 21 assists, two blocks, three digs and two aces, while Van Dyke had 15 kills on 29 attempts for a kill efficiency of .517. She also added four aces and three digs.

Melany Vry finished with three kills, three blocks and two digs and Caylee Cunningham chipped in two kills and seven digs. Carley Underwood had three digs and Joslyn Chadwick served two aces.

The Tigerhawks were 40-of-47 in serves with Lester going 10-of-10 and Underwood serving 7-of-7.

In the loss to ACGC, Lester tallied 15 assists, two digs and two aces, Cunningham had eight kills and six digs and Van Dyke added five kills and five digs.

Underwood chipped in six digs, Vry put down three kills, McKayla Smith finished with two kills and Abi Rawlins collected three digs.

The Tigerhawks were 41-of-42 in serves with Chadwick going 9-of-9. Lester served 13-of-13.

In the three-set win over Audubon (8-8), Lester finished with 18 assists and six digs, Cunningham put down 10 kills and collected four digs and Van Dyke tallied six kills and five digs.

Vry put down six kills, Felicity Woods had two kills and three digs and Rawlins finished with five digs. Underwood added three digs and two aces.

Chadwick served 13-of-13 and the Tigerhawks were 46-of-53 as a team. Lester served 10-of-10.

The Tigerhawks got 22 assists and seven digs from Lester in the win over West Central Valley (2-11). Van Dyke had a double-double with 14 digs, 11 kills and two assists and Cunningham served eight aces, put down five kills and had three digs.

Smith had five kills in seven attempts for a kill efficiency of .714. Vry’s kill efficiency was .500 as she put down four kills on her eight attempts and chipped in three digs.

Woods finished with two kills, Underwood had five digs and Rawlins and Chadwick each collected three digs.

The Tigerhawks served 54-of-55 with Chadwick going 16-of-16, Lester serving 9-of-9, Van Dyke hitting on 8-of-8 and Cunningham was successful on 12 of her 13 serves.

In the easy win over Perry, Lester finished with 14 assists, four digs and two aces and Van Dyke tallied six kills and four digs. Cunningham added five kills and eight digs, Vry tallied two kills, two blocks and two digs and Underwood delivered a pair of assists and had four digs. Smith put down three kills.

The Tigerhawks were 37-of-41 in serves. Cunningham served 7-of-7, Lester was 13-of-14 and Van Dyke hit on eight of her nine attempts.
