C-M boys golf team ends season at sectionals

Rhinehart shoots an 87 to lead Tigerhawks at Woodward Golf Club

WOODWARD — Colfax-Mingo’s boys golf team ended its season on May 14 following a fifth-place team finish at the Class 2A sectional tournament at Woodward Golf Club.

The Tigerhawks, led by Jason Rhinehart, shot a 398 as a team but failed to advance anyone to districts.

Rhinehart shot an 87 at the top but it was not good enough move on to the next round. He was 15th overall.

The other three counting golfers for the Tigerhawks were Shane Aikin (98), Jake Nichols (105) and Cale Duffy (108).

Des Moines Christian had the top two individual finishers and placed all four scoring golfers in the top eight. The Lions shot a 310 and won the sectional title by 20 shots.

Van Meter was the runner-up with a 330 followed by West Marshall (347), Woodward-Granger (361), Colfax-Mingo (398) and Central Decatur (421).

Des Moines Christian’s Jake Weissenburger won medalist honors with a 75. Carsen Theis of DMC was the runner-up with a 75.
