KEOTA — CJ Nikkel carded a personal-best score to lead the Lynnville-Sully boys golf team against Keota on Thursday.
The Hawks shot a 199 at Lagos Acres Golf Course but lost to host Keota, which shot a 180.
Nikkel’s personal-best 45 earned him runner-up medalist honors. Keota’s Sawyer Stout shot a 44 to win meet medalist. Keota had five scores under 50.
“It ended up being a boys only meet,” L-S golf coach Jeff Knouse said. “Our guys managed to put together a great score in the midst of some very strong winds. We were very impressed with Deven Liekweg in his first varsity start.”
Maxwell Mintle shot a 47, Keegan DeWitt carded a 52 and Deven Liekweg turned in a personal-best 55 in his varsity debut to complete the counting scores.
Carsten James (57) and Luke Kramer (58) both had non-counting scores for the Hawks.
