Backus, Padget lead Baxter golfers at GMG

Padget’s personal-best score nets her third-place finish

CONRAD — Corryn Padget and Zach Backus were both third overall during a road triangular on Tuesday at Oakwood Golf Course.

Padget’s personal-best score finish helped Baxter’s girls golf team take second against host GMG and Colo-NESCO. Backus shot a 48 but the Bolts were third in the three-team field.

Baxter’s girls carded a 266 but lost to GMG, which fired a 232. Colo-NESCO did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Padget led the Bolts with a career-best 57 to finish third, Allison Colyn shot a 62 and Bri Dahlke (72) and Calleah Frink (75) had the other counting scores. Abby McReynolds had a personal-best 78 as a non-counting score.

GMG’s Maya Gross shot a 50 win medalist honors and GMG’s Lily Harris was the runner-up with a 54.

Backus was one stroke off his personal-best score but his 48 got him a third-place finish. The Bolts shot a 221 as a team but Colo-NESCO won it with a 190 and GMG carded a 210 in second.

The other three counting golfers came from Carter Samson, Jalen Porter and Dalton Shanks. Samson shot a personal-best 57, Porter carded a personal-best 58 and Dalton Shanks had a 58.

Hunter Hicks (66) and Sam Cross (75) fired non-counting scores.

Colo-NESCO’s Austin Hendrick was the medalist with a 38 and teammate Caden Hasbrouck was the runner-up with a 47.
