L-S boys win home triangular, girls finish second

Three Hawks earn medals against Iowa Valley, Belle Plaine

LYNNVILLE — Three Hawks earned medals at Lynnville-Sully’s latest golf meet on Monday.

Keegan DeWitt and CJ Nikkel went 1-2 and Greenlee Smock was the medalist on the girls’ side as the Hawk boys won the home triangular at the par-36 Diamond Trail Golf Club and the girls placed second.

The Hawk boys shot a 208 and were better than Belle Plaine by 12 shots and Iowa Valley by 14 strokes.

In the girls’ competition, Iowa Valley won with a 232, while L-S shot a 244. Belle Plaine only had three golfers and did not record a team score.

DeWitt won medalist honors with a 48 and Nikkel was the runner-up with a 50. Luke Kramer (54) and Max Mintle (56) had the other two counting scores while Carsten James (64) had a non-counting score.

Smock shot a 3-over-par 39 to win medalist honors for the girls. Brooke Maston shot a 59, Callista Hackert had a 72 and Dakota Bokhoven carded a 74 to complete the Hawks’ scoring.

Iowa Valley’s Jaden Smith was the runner-up medalist with a 46.
