Newton High School to recognize 1980 championship football team on Oct. 17

Newton High School will recognize the 1980 state championship football team at the varsity game against Grinnell on Oct. 17th at H.A. Lynn Stadium.

Team members will be admitted free along with one guest for the evening and will have special reserved seating down on the field in the south end zone.

The game against the Tigers kicks off at 7 p.m., and the 1980 title team will be recognized at halftime. There will be a social gathering for team members after the game at Murph and Mary’s pub in Newton.

The Cardinals are ranked 5th in Class 4A and currently 5-1 and 2-0 in the district.
