Tori White came within .4 seconds of her own backstroke record, Harper Barton joined her in winning four events and the Newton girls swim team claimed victories in all 11 events during a home matchup with Centerville on Tuesday.
The Cardinals finished 1-2-3 and 1-2 in five events each and dunked the Lady Reds, 129-16, at the Newton YMCA.

Barton and White were part of the winning 200- and 400-meter freestyle relay teams.
Newton ended its night with a 1-2 finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The winning team of Reid McCloud, White, Temple Barton and Harper Barton finished in 4 minutes, 27.74 seconds.
The runner-up foursome was Kimberlee Miller, Torrie Van Kley, Brilea Moffitt and Peyton Phillips and they posted a time of 5:32.74.
The same quartet who won the 400 freestyle relay took the 200 freestyle relay, too.

That order was Harper Barton, White, Temple Barton and McCloud. They won the race in around 1:59, but the official results had an inaccurate time. Newton’s second relay team in the event was disqualified.
Emalee Weuve, Alexa Van Maanen, Julia Nedder and Moffitt won the 200 medley relay in 2:29.58. The Cardinals went 1-2 in the event with Madison Scott, Van Kley, Nilaya McConnell and Josalyn Cervantes placing second in 2:58.38.
Harper Barton’s other two wins came in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while White won the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke.
The other individual winners were Miller, Nedder, McCloud and Temple Barton.

White’s winning time in the 100 backstroke was clocked in 1:10.75, which was .4 seconds off the school record she set last season. Weuve (1:25.26) and Moffitt (1:32.96) went 2-3 in the event.
White won the 200 IM in 2:46.09 and Van Maanen was the runner-up in 2:56.21.
Newton also was 1-2-3 in the 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.
In the 100 butterfly, Nedder won the race in 1:18.03 and McConnell (1:35.78) and Amiya Amos (2:07.05) finished second and third, respectively.

Harper Barton won the 50 freestyle in 28.67 seconds and then swam to victory in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.14.
Temple Barton (30.91) and Nedder (32.52) were 2-3 in the 50 freestyle and Weuve (1:12.43) and Miller (1:14.39) finished 2-3 in the 100 freestyle.
Miller won the 200 freestyle in 2:40.9 and Phillips was the runner-up in 2:43.41.
McCloud led a 1-2-3 finish in the 400 freestyle. She won the race in 4:52.65. Phillips (5:48.59) and Scott (6:51.62) were the other two swimmers in the race.
Temple Barton finished the 100 breaststroke in a winning time of 1:26.31 and the runner-up was Van Maanen in 1:29.73.
