Mustangs dominate Trojans in HOIAC matchup

Jorja Teeter

MONROE — A strong night behind the service line powered the PCM volleyball team to its ninth straight win on Monday.

The Mustangs opened Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-10 sweep against West Marshall, and 21 aces were a big reason why.

“It was very much a serving game, and there weren’t a lot of rallies throughout the match,” PCM head volleyball coach Sarah De Vries said. “We did our best to stay engaged and make good plays at the net when we could.”

Libby Winters

PCM (9-1, 1-0 in the conference) is 2-0 against the rival Trojans this season, and the Mustangs are 5-0 in sets in those two matches.

The run included seven aces, and Teeter forced the Trojans to call a pair of timeouts.

Teeter finished 20-of-20 in serves with eight aces, and she added two kills and three digs.
