When Rod began searching for a senior living community for his mother near Newton, he expected a long process. But one visit to Newton Village changed everything.

“About 15 minutes after we walked into Newton Village, we canceled all our other appointments and knew we didn’t need to do any more interviews,” Rod said. “Everyone from housekeeping and food service to nurses and caregivers and other residents are the absolute cream of the crop.”

The Newton Village team recommended a secured memory care neighborhood. Rod and his family joined the waiting list and were grateful they did.

“It was all handled very professionally,” he said. “They wanted to do what was best for mom.”

Rod was prepared to consider options in Pella, Altoona and Ankeny, but was thankful Newton Village was close to home.

“With Newton being the size it is, I can go to the grocery store, run to Newton Village, and spend an hour with Mom. Piece of cake,” Rod said.

He values their daily visits and interactions with others, especially when they sit on the sun porch or spend time outside.

“It took no time for people to call her by name,” Rod said. “They go out of their way to make her a part of the community.”

His mother especially enjoys church services and other activities, and Rod appreciates the personal touches that make Newton Village feel like home. “Usually, there’s something that can be improved. I can’t think of what it would be,”he said.
