Area veterans receive Quilts of Valor during Prairie Days

Nineteen Quilts of Valor were awarded July 22 in Prairie City to local veterans in recognition and in appreciation for their military service to the United States of America.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover all combat service members and veterans who have honorably served our nation, whether in peacetime or times of crisis.

The QOV Foundation is a national organization founded in 2003 by “Blue Star” mother, Catherine Roberts. The quilts are meant to offer healing, peace, comfort and warmth to each individual who receives them and for the service members to know their service and sacrifice was sincerely appreciated.

Though we may never know the depth of their sacrifice to protect and defend the United States of America, as an expression of gratitude from a grateful nation, members of the QOV Foundation are humbled to award Quilts of Valor to honor those who have and are currently serving our nation.
