Ross Lynn Wells

Dec. 12, 2022

Ross Lynn Wells was born April 1, 1962 to Bill and Joan Wells of Prairie City, Iowa. Ross was killed in a two car accident on December 12, 2022, while Christmas shopping in Altoona.

He is survived by his mother Joan Wells of Prairie City, son Lucas Wells (Cassie) of Newton, stepson Jeremiah Ulrey (Nikki) and their three daughters Peyton, Ashlyn and Emery of Monroe, sister Rita Birkenholtz (Ken) Indianola, brother Bill Lee Wells of Prairie City, sister Ronda House (Jim) Cedar Rapids, and three aunts Rosanna Parker, Betty Wells, Beverly Wells, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ross grew up in Prairie City and graduated in 1980 from Prairie City High School. He worked many years on the night shift at Maytag until back surgery in 1997 left him with constant back pain and no feeling in his left leg and left foot, forcing him into disability retirement. Shortly after Ross’s back surgery, his father Bill Wells passed away, so Ross moved home to be his mom’s full-time companion and caregiver, which he was for the last 25 years. His super power was his ability to make people laugh. He could have you laughing until your sides ached when he told a story. Ross has been cremated and there will not be a service.

If you would like to make a gift in Ross’s memory, we are suggesting the American Diabetes Association.
