Merrill Dean Streeter, 86, of Prairie City, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. The son of Donald Homer and Mary Frances (Conklin) Streeter, Merrill was born April 20, 1935, in Indianola. He graduated from Runnells High School. Merrill served in the United States Army in Korea. On July 2, 1958, he was united in marriage to Karolyn Jennings at Fort Benning, Ga. Merrill worked for the Maytag Company and retired after 30 years. He was a long-time member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church. He was active in the Runnells Historical Society, liked going camping, making homemade ice cream and spending time on his son’s farm. He especially enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karolyn; two sons, Michael (Bobbi) Streeter and Daniel (Pam) Streeter; four grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Streeter, Seth (Jessica) Streeter, Megan (Ryan) Evans and Matthew (Ariel) Streeter; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Verle Streeter and Larry Streeter. Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Donna Jean Cully.
