Terry Boyd Van Rees, 75, formerly of Reasnor, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Terry’s name (checks made out to Henry or Rose Van Rees) may be left at the funeral home.
Terry, the son of Boyd and Alice (Worthington) Van Rees, was born on March 30, 1946, in Pella. He grew up between Illinois and Iowa. On Dec. 24, 1965, Terry was united in marriage with Carol Simmons. They lived for a short time in California before moving to Reasnor in 1968. Terry worked as a welder at the Parsons Company. He loved working with his hands including working on cars and motorcycles and doing electrical and plumbing work. He also liked to fish, play guitar and sing. Terry and Carol had bred AK registered Dobermans and loved animals.
Terry is survived by his children, Henry (Angela) Van Rees of Reasnor, Doug Van Rees of Newton and Rose Van Rees of Newton; grandchildren, Brad Shook, Tommy Shook, Samantha Van Rees and Lane Van Rees; his nine great-grandchildren and two more on the way very soon; and sister, Claudia Sheree Hood of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Carol Van Rees.
