Robert Leroy Keuning

Robert Leroy Keuning, 89, of Monroe, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at his home. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. The family will greet following the service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Presbyterian Church or the Monroe Ambulance. The son of Henry and Tena (Van Zommeren) Keuning, Bob was born Feb. 4, 1932, in Newton. He attended Monroe Schools. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On Nov. 23, 1961, he was united in marriage to Eunice Verschuure at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City. Bob farmed during his lifetime. He served as a 4H leader and also one term on the Monroe School Board.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Eunice; two sons, Brian (Peggy) Keuning and Mike (Kathy) Keuning; four grandchildren, Kelli (Clinton) Eshelman, Lucas (Nicole) Keuning, Colton (Ashlee) Keuning and Chase Keuning; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Jayden; and his brother, Ray (Petra) Keuning. He was preceded in death by his parents.
