Letter to the Editor: It’s a great time to be a Cardinal

A shout out to our Newton Cardinals football team for a fantastic season and making it all the way to compete in a very exciting state class 4A semifinal game at the UNI-Dome for the first time in over 30 years. Even though that game did not end as hoped, those guys played hard and tough in that game and all season long, making the journey to the Dome a fun ride for everyone. The players and coaches, their classmates and families, and the fans who supported them along the way should all be very proud of this team and the commitment they brought to every game

And we can’t forget that Newton will receive a total of $56,000 after coming in 8th place in that T-Mobile contest to be used for upgrades to school facilities. Not too shabby, considering all the competition for that money.

It’s a great time to be a Newton Cardinal!
