Marvin Campbell, an unforgettable gentleman

OPINION

We have lost a great man in our community ... one who was admired by many for dozens of years. Marvin was an “idea man” in so many different ways. He had a pregnant imagination and was always coming up with ways to benefit various organizations, including our schools with his artistic abilities.

My association with Marvin goes back to the founding of O.P.E.N. when the first sister-city delegation from Ukraine visited Newton in 1991. Marvin was involved in the founding of O.P.E.N. and heavily involved thereafter. He was a true “sparkplug” in our organization, full of good ideas, one after the other.

I will never forget our first official visit to Ukraine back in April 1993. Marvin was busy capturing events day after day on his video camera, bringing history back to share in our community. I worked with Marvin on many events thereafter and admired his creativity. He was the best of the best!

The obituary on Marvin was beautifully written, covering so many interesting events in his life. What a wonderful life this great man lived.

We will miss you, Marvin ... rest in peace.
