Letter to the Editor: The splash pad is a success

I need to admit I was wrong. I was one of “those people” who refused to understand why the city was spending so much effort and money on, in my mind, some silly splash pad that would do little to bring business to Newton. I was convinced this was not worth the trouble and those in favor of it should pony up the cash themselves if they wanted it so badly.

Today, with temperatures well into the 90s, I happened to drive past the splash pad and saw a bunch of little kids running around, playing, laughing, splashing around, and having a great time. And I realized that I was wrong to be so critical of this splash pad project.

Sometimes you just need to look at the world through the eyes of a child.

And admit when you are wrong.
