Letter to the Editor: Just enjoying the park

I was at a park here in Newton Aug. 22 enjoying the nice little park. When I was getting ready to leave and a police car came up behind me. The officer came up to my car and asked me what was I doing there. I explained I was enjoying the quiet peaceful park. He had a complaint a man was there many times with the same car as mine looked like. I told him yes, it was me and come here often after delivering meals to the poor or taking people to their doctor appointments to Des Moines or other Iowa cities. I said I don’t bother anybody or even talk to anyone. Officer said the woman said I looked up to ‘who knows what I was doing there.’ I said this is the USA and I was a retired federal police officer and also serve and retired from the U.S. Army. This woman or person is paranoid and no right to run me off that park, I have rights also as the U.S. Constitution and the bill of right says we do. I also pay taxes in the city and the county. I never even had a moving violation.

Are we living in a third world country or the USA? I see another civil war coming to our nation, where evil, woke, progressive persons with their socialism way of life are coming after Christians and good people who believe and love the United States of America!

I think it is time to vacate Newton, like hundreds of folks have already done!
