Opinion: Maybe tarrifs aren’t so bad after all

I was at first against the tariffs being imposed on imported goods as they would cause the prices of most everything we buy to go up by quite a bit.

But now I realize that since all fireworks are imported from China, and these tariffs will cause the prices of those fireworks to increase by so much that we might not be seeing all those garish fireworks tents set up on every street corner and parking lot in Newton this summer, I’m now all in favor of the tariffs, in fact the higher the better! I’ll take cleaner skies, less noise pollution, no fireworks debris littering my yard every June and July, and being able to enjoy spending time outdoors on a summer’s evening over the pain of higher prices on some groceries and Amazon every time!

Thank you, Mr. President!! Please don’t back down this time!
