Dorothy I. Rabourn

Dorothy I. (Shaver) Rabourn, was born April 15, 1932 in Sullivan County, Missouri. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1950.

Dorothy was united in marriage with Max W. Rabourn on October 27, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Dorothy had worked as a book keeper for Coast to Coast and Brookwood in Newton. Dorothy was the mother of two sons, Steve and Curt. She enjoyed tennis, cross-stitching, knitting and crosswords.

Dorothy died Sunday, August 31, 2025 at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. She was 93 years old. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max on November 1, 2021; her brother, J.L. (Virginia) Shaver; and her two sisters, Bonnie (John) Norris and Virginia Shaver.

Those left to honor Dorothy’s memory include her sons, Steve (Deb) Rabourn and Curt (Mindy) Rabourn; her grandchildren, Richard, Nora and Bonnie Rabourn, Erica, Bridgette and Paisley Vriezelaar and seven great grandchildren.

No services are planned. Memorials may be left in Dorothy’s name (Please make checks payable to Curt Rabourn) and may be left at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.
