Steven Craig Koch

Steven Craig Koch, 76, of Palm Springs, CA, went to meet his Savior on May 14, 2025.

He was born in Hastings, NE in 1949 to Don and Jean Koch. Steve attended Hastings High before studying at Hastings College. He joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. Steve went on to pursue his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Nebraska Lincoln (GO BIG RED!). Steve married Jeanne Mousel of Hastings, NE, in 1970. They had two children, Celeste and Phillip. Steve’s career at Maytag in Newton, IA lasted thirty years. After retirement, he and his wife, Jeanne, moved to Palm Springs where he was a dedicated volunteer at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Steve is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, daughter Celeste and husband Chad Haas (Beaverton, OR) and his son Phillip and wife Deidre Koch (Bonner Springs, KS). Granddaughters Ellisyn (5) and Josie (3) Koch made him laugh and filled his heart with love. Steve is also survived by one of his sisters, Marilyn Cramer (Hastings, NE).

Steve was a devoted Nebraska Cornhuskers fan whose loyalty to Big Red never wavered through decades of victories and heartbreaks alike. He lived and breathed Husker football. His passion for the team was infectious, passed down to his family, and filled with game-day traditions (lots of beer), spirited discussions about recruiting, and an unwavering belief that next season would always bring championship glory.

A grave-side service, celebration of life and luncheon will be on September 12, 2025 (his and Jeanne’s 55th wedding anniversary) in Hastings, NE.
