Jack D. Illingworth

Jack D. Illingworth, 68, of Newton died Monday, February 26, 2024, at his residence. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorials in Jack’s name (checks payable to Darlene Illingworth) may be left at the funeral home.

Jack, the son of Johnnie and Janet (Davidson) Illingworth, was born March 11, 1955 in Newton, Iowa. He was married to Darlene Fisher on January 8, 1972 and they were married for 52 years. He was a lifelong resident of Newton and raised his family there. He worked as a plumber through the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33. Jack had a great love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed spending time with his family and his many animals.

Jack is survived by his wife, Darlene (Fisher) Illingworth of Newton; children, Shane (Brenda) Illingworth of Newton and Angela Illingworth of Ankeny; grandchildren, Alex Illingworth, Adam Illingworth, Josie Potter, Halle Horstman, and Taylor Horstman; brother-in-law, Ron Fisher; special friends, Doug (Terri) Swank, Dennis (Julie) Anderson, Cheryl McKinney, and the late John McKinney. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Illingworth and Jeff Illingworth; and brothers-in-law, Bill Fisher and Steven Fisher.
