Danielle Marie Shine

Danielle Marie Shine, 43, of Newton died on December 25, 2023, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., January 5, 2024, at Believers in Grace Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials to an Animal Rescue League of the donor’s choice may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Danielle, the daughter of Daniel and Jane (Delk) Shine, was born on November 9, 1980 in Newton. She graduated from high school and worked as a telemarketer. At the age of 21, Danielle was involved in a car accident that left her as a quadriplegic. She worked hard to live her life to the fullest and enjoyed time spent with her family. Danielle also loved animals. She enjoyed time spent on her computer and phone which helped her stay connected to family and friends.

Danielle is survived by her children, Adam “AJ” Halterman, Jr., Dylan (Sarra) James, Alexis James, and Destiny “Emma”; two grandchildren, Jaxson and Brixton; her parents, Daniel and Jane Shine; aunts and uncles, Pat (Dean) Schutte, Teresa (Steve) Pettyjohn, Clyde (Cathy) Shine, James “JD” Shine, and Kathy Blystone; several cousins, including Tai (Dean) Graf; and close friends, Michelle Stoner, Dennis Lint, and Pepper Glick. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Marvin Shine and Barbara May; maternal grandparents, Joe and Bessie Delk; and a cousin, David Schutte.
