Lois Lucille Musgrove

Lois Lucille Musgrove passed away November 4, 2023, at the age of 88. Services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Chariton. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Lois’ name to Accura HealthCare of Pleasantville, 909 N State St., Pleasantville, Iowa 50225.

Lois Lucille Gragg was born July 9, 1935, to Francis and Sylvia (Kellogg) Gragg at their home in Albia, Iowa. Lois, the oldest, was raised alongside her three siblings: Francis, Jr., Carl, and Joyce and graduated from Albia High School. As a young girl, she was active in the United Brethern Church and accepted Christ as her Savior.

Lois was united in marriage to William (Bill) Musgrove on November 13, 1954. The couple was blessed with four children: Linda, Connie, Susan, and Rod. Lois was a homemaker and used her many talents to enhance the lives of her family. Her family was very important to her and being with them brought her great joy.

Lois worked for the Newton Telephone Company as an operator before her marriage. She then worked part-time for the Maytag Blue Cheese Factory. After Bill’s retirement, they wintered in Texas, and Lois was the Activities Director for several years. She was a very gifted person and had many hobbies. Her flower gardens were beautiful and well-tended. She and Bill were wood carvers and demonstrated their carvings at the Iowa State Fair and other events, winning many awards.

Lois will be dearly missed by her children: Linda (Garry) Van Waardhuizen, Connie (Dave) Hendricks, and Rod (Beth) Musgrove; Vicky Musgrove; brother, Carl Gragg; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Sylvia Gragg; husband, Bill Musgrove; daughter, Susan Putz; son-in-law, Marvin Putz; brother, Francis Gragg, Jr.; and sister, Marilyn Joyce (Donald) Gladson.
