Lyle Eugene Herwehe

Lyle Eugene Herwehe, 88, formerly of Des Moines, IA, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Lyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife Ellen Herwehe (Curley) of 34 years, son Jerry (Cheryl) Herwehe of Apex, NC, daughters Michelle (Jeff) Wheeler of Dunkerton, IA, Karen (Steve) Handrich of New Berlin, WI, and Kathy Uthe, Roland, IA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister Benita (Verne) Griesman of Spencer, IA and brother Alan Chipps of Monroe, IA.

Lyle was born in Newton, IA to Lea and Helen (Danks) Herwehe. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. Lyle served in the Army from1953-1955; he was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1962. Lyle retired as the Vice President of Equitable Investment Services in 1994 and moved to New Berlin, WI in 2003.

Lyle is preceded in death by parents, Lea Herwehe and Helen Herwehe Chipps; mother-in-law, Juanita Carver; brother-in-law, Marvin Davis; sisters-in-law Bev Chipps, Marsha Hogan and Linda Donald.

A memorial service will be held at the VFW5716, New Berlin, WI on Saturday, September 16th at 4:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the family.
