Gloria Rankin

Gloria Rankin, 80, of Marshalltown and formerly of Colfax, Iowa, passed away on the morning of May 6, 2023 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

A celebration of Gloria’s life will take place on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Gloria Gale Fields was born August 18, 1942 to parents Gail and Opal (Meese) Fields in Colfax, Iowa. She was one of three children to her family. She grew up in Colfax where she attended school graduating from Colfax High School in the class of 1960.

On June 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Rankin at the First Presbyterian Church in Colfax. Together they built their home together in Colfax and raised their son Chris. In her free time, Gloria loved to find a good deal at a garage sale, spent time crafting and crocheting, and loved her furry four-legged companions she had over the years. She adored Elvis Presley and went to see him twice in concerts. She kept the home always properly decorated for any and every season often placing two Christmas trees in the home during that season.

Left to remember and cherish her memory are her son Chris (Michelle) Rankin; her grandchildren, Christopher Rankin, Caitlyn (Jordan) Hagans, and Nicholas (Rachael) Rankin; her great-grandchildren, Rae Lynn Rankin, Addison Hagans, and Finnegan Rankin; alongside numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie; her parents, Gail and Opal Fields; her granddaughter Rachel Rankin; and her siblings, Evelyn Tedrow and Gail Fields (in infancy)
