Michael “Mike” Edward Carley, 68, of Glendale, Arizona, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home. A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the American Legion Post 111 in Newton.

Mike, the son of Edward and Joyce (Burr) Carley, was born on February 16, 1954 in Elyria, Ohio. He graduated from Northwest High School in House Springs, Missouri in 1972. He was united in marriage with Darlene Parish in 1977 and they were blessed with two daughters, Danelle and Kristin. Mike managed K-Marts around the midwest until they moved to Newton, Iowa in 1995 and opened Country General, and later worked for Mid-Iowa Tool and Des Moines Bolt. After retiring in 2015, he moved to Kansas City and later to Arizona.

Mike enjoyed grilling, helping people any way he could, and watching sports. He loved working his part time job working for the Arizona Diamondbacks. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

Mike is survived by his partner, Sue Hunter of Glendale, Arizona; daughters, Danelle (Justin) Griswold of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kristin Carley (Brock Jutting) of Newton; granddaughters, Teia and Saylor Griswold; his step-children, Valerie (Patrick) Lunasol and Eric Lindquist, both of Glendale, Arizona; step-grandchildren, Felix and Phoebe Lunsasol, brothers Mark (Cathy) Carley of Cedar Hill Missouri; Jim (Wendy) Carley of Overland Park Kansas; and sisters Mary (Lance) Carlson of Austin Texas; and Susan (Lorie) Wagner of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene Carley; and brother, Tim Carley.
