Gerald G. Bucklin

Gerald G. Bucklin, 85, of Newton died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Newton Village.  A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at his daughter, Sarah’s home, 1304 Dubuque Dr. in Otley. Memorials to the NRA may be left at the celebration of life or the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Gerald, the son of George and Luretha (Gearhart) Bucklin, was born on March 13, 1937 in Baxter. He grew up in Baxter and attended the Baxter Schools. Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army from August of 1954 to July of 1957.  On June 3, 1967, Gerald was united in marriage with Donna Yearns in Lancaster, Missouri. They made their home in Newton, Wisconsin for a short time, and then in Baxter for many years.  Gerald worked as a self-employed TV repairman and then did maintenance for the City of Baxter, until his retirement in 1999.  Following Gerald and Donna’s retirement, they moved to Warsaw, Missouri until moving back to Newton in 2020.  Gerald was a proud supporter and member of the NRA and the Moose Lodge. He along with his friend, Myron Finch, enjoyed building parade cars and motorcycles for area parades.  Gerald and Donna enjoyed dancing and he loved to go fishing with his mom.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Sarah Christian (Darren Clausen) of Otley; daughter-in-law, Paula Christian of Illinois; grandchildren, Amanda (Daniel) Mendoza, Brandon (Heather) Evans, and Daniel Witzel; his great-grandchildren, Mayarah and Christian; his brother, Vernon (Phyllis) Bucklin of Applington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Bucklin; son, William Christian; and three brothers, Edward, Russell, and Thomas Bucklin.
