Marilyn Beukema

Marilyn Beukema, 75 of Mitchellville, died September 15, 2022, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital of congestive heart failure and kidney disease. She was born April 12, 1947, to Merle and Marguerite Ruka of Belmond, Iowa.

Marilyn graduated from Belmond High School in 1965 and later attended Hamilton Business in Mason City in the fall of 1965. She married Richard Eugene Beukema on July 23, 1967, and they moved to Mitchellville where they enjoyed farming with their two sons and many grandchildren. She spent many years working between Mercy Hospital, the local Mitchellville grocery store, and at Southeast Polk High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mitchellville, local 4-H club and most recently, the Iowa Donor Network.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Mitchellville United Methodist Church, 200 2nd Street NW. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home located at 303 Center Street in Mitchellville. Cremation burial will occur Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Mitchellville Cemetery.

Marilyn left behind two sons, Dean (Lisa) Beukema of Guthrie Center and Todd (Dawn) Beukema of Bondurant; eight grandchildren, Amber Beukema, Nicholas (Samantha) Beukema, Josie Beukema, Lane Neitz, Madison (Sam) Kinter, Valerie Beukema, Brett Beukema, and Jill Beukema; great grandchildren, Dakota Beukema, Payton Petheram, Ava Beukema, Journey Semmens, Thea Semmens, and Vinley Kinter; brothers, Gary (Sheila) Ruka of Belmond and Lynn (Lorraine) Ruka of Tucson, Arizona, Harry (Leticia) Beukema of Mitchellville, Tom (Karen) Beukema of Mitchellville, Dale (Sally) Beukema of Bondurant; sisters, Pat (Frank) Rouse of Kalona and Nancy Beukema of Mitchellville; aunts, Florence Johnson of Britt, Beryl Friedow of Kanawha, Doris Drury, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Beukema; parents, Merle and Marguerite Ruka of Belmond; and parents-in-law Richard J. and Ellen Beukema of Mitchellville; and uncle, Donald Johnson of Britt.
