Judy Christine Ward

Judy Christine (Weddle) Ward, 77, of Des Moines left this world to meet her Lord and Savior peacefully on July 25, 2022, at her home. Judy, the daughter of Harley Porter and Crystal Vondetta (Rinehart) Weddle, was born September 1, 1944, in Albany, Missouri. Judy was the fifth of six children. After graduation in Albany in 1962, she lived in St. Joseph, Missouri for about 2 years and after marrying Allen “Willie” Ward in 1966, she moved to Newton, Iowa. She was primarily a homemaker and worked office assistant positions at Newton Manufacturing and later in life at McFarland Clinic and Lutheran Social Services in Ames. She retired in March 1998.

Judy was an active and faithful member of the Foursquare Church in Newton where she was a member of the United Foursquare Women (UFW) completing projects to raise money for various needs of the church. Later in life she was a member of the Experience Church in Des Moines assisting where ever she could help.

She loved her children, grand and great grandchildren, extended family, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She enjoyed sewing, scrap booking, cardmaking, baking and decorating cakes, cooking, baking, puzzles, flowers, gardening and a “good visit.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Retha “Sissie” Weddle; brothers Ed, Ron, JR (Short) Weddle, nephew Dennis “Buck” Weddle, and baby Joseph Weddle.

Survivors: Sister Dixie (Bob) Sherrill; Husband: Allen “Willie” Ward; Son: Michael (Betty) Ward; Son: Allen (Terri) Ward; Son: Tony Ward; Daughter: Amy (Eric) Leonard; Grand Children: Gavin Cowen, Brittany Wetzel, Abby (Matthew) Cole, Whitney (Jared) Brown, David Ward, Rylee (Zach) Bacon, Sammie Ward, Ally Leonard, Dylan Leonard; Great Grand Children - Chloe, Olivia, Ellie and William Matthew Cole, Aubree De Joode, Gracie Rose Cowan, and Theophilus James Bacon due in November.

To our family & friends……Services will be Friday, July 29th at the Experience Church located at 2559 East Euclid, Des Moines, IA 50317. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with the service at 11:00 am. Lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to the family. Donations will be used to send kids to church camp.
