Joan Theresa Talbert, the daughter of Peter Anton Kodis and Josephine Elizabeth Ledache, was born October 3, 1931 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She attended St. George Catholic School and Mary D. Bradford. Joan graduated in 1949. She was united in marriage to Lee Talbert on October 20, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois. Joan met Lee while working inventory at American Motors. She was counting and he decided to distract her and was caught by his boss and had to spend the rest of his shift counting parts with her. Their journey began there and extended over 71 years. When Joan and Lee moved to Kellogg, Iowa, she became a homemaker. She devoted herself to her husband and children. She enjoyed sewing, reading and volunteering at the Kellogg Museum. Joan was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church for many years.
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, Joan, age 90, died peacefully at her home in Kellogg, Iowa surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Lance Talbert in 2006 and Gary Talbert in 2016, her sister Eleanor Wilcott, and two brothers Frank Kodis and Joseph Kodis.
Those left to honor the memory of Joan include her husband Lee Talbert of Kellogg, Iowa, children Brenda Lee Talbert of Brainerd, MN, Dawn Michelle Gannaway (Joe) of Newton, IA, Michael Gene Talbert (Donna) of Kenosha, WI, and Scott Kevin Talbert (Margie) of Gilbert, AZ, 15 grandchildren Kimberly, Robert, Craig, Corey, Briana, Jason, Lillian, Adam, Ryan, Nick, Joey, Shawn, Sharon, Briliegh and Scott, 37 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
