June Rose Ohler, 79, of Newton died on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Accura Health Care of Newton East. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials in June’s name (checks made payable to Lee Ohler or Greta McFadden)to be used for a memorial bench for June and Howard may be left at the funeral home.
June, the daughter of Chalmer and Ava (Swain) Timmons, was born on July 20, 1942 in Hagerstown, Indiana. She graduated from Hagerstown High School and then worked at the Perfect Circle. On April 3, 1965,June was united in marriage with Howard Ohler in Hagerstown. They made their home in Kellogg, Iowa, where Howard and June would raise their family. June worked part time at Casey’s and in the kitchen at the Kellogg school. In 1989, they moved to Newton. June then worked at Wal-Mart for 27 years where she would make lifelong friends, retiring in 2016. While at Wal-Mart she enjoyed helping with the Children’s Miracle Network. June also liked gardening, camping, and planting flowers in her yard. Most of all, she loved being a grandma. Throughout life, Howard and June shared a deep love and were inseparable. Their health journeys over the last 10 years were very similar including their deaths being just over a month apart.
June is survived by her two children, Lee (Mary) Ohler of Brooklyn and Greta (Tom)McFadden of Mingo; grandchildren, Olivia Ohler, Megan Walford, Austin (Erin)McFadden, Archer McFadden (Aubrey Stacey), and Aiden McFadden; her great-grandchildren, Hailey Henry and Lane Nelson; and her brother, BillTimmons of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, HowardOhler; her sisters, Lois Green and Marilyn Murphy; and brothers, Bob and MerleTimmons.
