Juanita Ann Rethmeier, the daughter of Andrew Albert and Haddie Elizabeth (Wilson) Chitwood, was born on January 18, 1927, in Kirksville, Missouri. She was very proud of her Missourian upbringing.
On August 25, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, Juanita was united in marriage to Glen Arthur Rethmeier. Juanita worked at Woolworths for many years and retired in 1993.
She loved spending time with her family and her home was a hub for all the family members to stop and visit. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune and the Andy Griffith Show. She was also a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Arthur Rethmeier, her mother Haddie Chitwood and siblings Tommy Chitwood, Lucille Fullington, Nadine Owens, Luella Akeman, Billie Dawson and Gary Dawson.
Those left to honor the memory of Juanita include her sons and daughters-in-law Glen David (Mary) Rethmeier and Jack Ray (Susan) Rethmeier, grandchildren: Anna Winchester, Curtis Rethmeier, Andrew Rethmeier, Glenna (Anthony) Gillum, Benjamin Rethmeier and Meagan (Brandon) Sonnenburg, great-grandchildren Logan Winchester, Michael Gillum, Ashley Gillum, Abigail Gillum, Zachariah (Katie) Sonnenburg and Katrielle Sonnenburg and great-great-grandchildren Sophia Gillum and Bradley Ballou.
A time of remembrance and celebration will be held at a later date, Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
