Gertrude Marilyn Weyers was born May 16, 1939, to Marion and Gertrude (Bezemer) VanHouweling in Pella, Iowa. She passed away at Pella Regional Health Center, Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the age of eighty-two.
Marilyn was a 1958 graduate of Pella Community High School. On May 13, 1959, she was united in marriage with Theodore Carl Weyers at the First Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa. They lived on a farm outside of Newton until the fall of 1959, and then moved to a farm in rural Otley, where she currently resided. They were blessed with four children: Linda, Craig, David, and Bryan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda (Junior) DeJong of Lynnville,
Craig Weyers of Billings, Montana, David (Kristy) Weyers of Monroe, and Bryan Weyers of Monroe; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Marilyn is also survived by her sister Ardith Robertson of Albert Lea, Minnesota, her brother Carl Van Houweling of Pella; and siblings-in-law: Thelma Shampine, Mary Hoover, Imogene White, Kay (Roland) Law,and Janet (Steve) Foster.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents Marion and Gertrude Van Houweling; parents-in-law Theodore and Emma Weyers; sisters Julie (Jake) Vos, and Mary (Marion) Heemstra; brothers: Paul (Margaret) Van Houweling, and Gerald (Margery) Van Houweling; grandsons, Tanner Weyers and Eric Weyers; great-grandsons,Collin De Vries, and Drake Carl Weyers, and siblings-in-law: R.J. Robertson, Marlyn Van Houweling, Chuck Shampine, Bill Hoover, Lloyd White, Carroll Weyers, andHelen Springer.
A family funeral service will be held at 9:30am, Saturday, November 13, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. A public visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, Friday, November 12, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home, with family present from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Monroe Fire & Rescue.
