Charles L. Chance passed away Oct. 9, 2021, at Accura Healthcare East in Newton.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 at Newton Union Cemetery. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facemasks will be encouraged. In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated to Accura East Activity Fund.
Charles L. (Chuck) Chance, 70, was born April 8, 1951, in Newton, the son of Frank Lee and Veronica Ann (Johnson) Chance. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1969. He was raised in the Catholic faith. Chuck enjoyed the outdoors and was employed by Maytag, was an over-the-road truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. Chuck enjoyed his family and friends and loved the Newton Speedway.
Chuck is survived by his siblings, Beverly (Jerry) Stewart, Kenny (Alicia) Chance, Carolyn (Pat) Sullivan, Richard (Becky Carhuff) Chance and Tim (Debbie) Chance; his many nieces and nephews; and good neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Emily; and a great-niece, Chrystal.
