Moriah Marie Hoskins, the daughter of Danny Quinn Hoskins and Karen Lynn Christy, was born April 4, 1994, in Newton. Moriah graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 2012. She had attended beauty school. She went on to work in managerial positions in various industries but found her place while working in the casino industry as a croupier and main banker at Meskwaki and Prairie Meadows. Moriah had a heart for helping others in need. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her nieces.
Moriah died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, in Des Moines. She was 27 years old. Moriah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gerald and Evelyn Williams and John Christy; a brother, Jeffrey Brown; and a cousin, Rachel Williams. Those left to honor Moriah’s memory include her fiancé, Eric Quintanar; her parents, Danny Hoskins and Michelle Brown and Karen Christy and Mick McGinley; her sister, Amber (Joel) Callison and their daughters, Amelia and Bailey; her brothers, Gage Lowe, Josh McGinley and Jared McGinley; her grandparents, Harold and Janet Hoskins, Kay Phillips and Jeff Brown; her 14 aunts and uncles; her 17 cousins; and 17 second cousins.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at Grace Church in Newton. A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Pence-Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday just prior to the service. A lunch with the family will follow the service. Memorials may be designated in Moriah’s name.
