Galen Lee Heyveld

Galen Lee Heyveld, 70, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at his home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial with Military Rites will be at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Happy Tales Ranch and Rescue and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Harold John and Donna Joan (McCongehey) Heyveld, Galen was born March 30, 1951, in Oskaloosa. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1969 and attended DMACC. Galen was united in marriage to Tammy Dungan April 27, 2001, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked at the Vernon Company for 20 years. Galen was a member of the Monroe American Legion. Galen enjoyed going to Indy car races. He also loved tinkering with and fixing things.  

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Tammy; children, Jeff (Shelly) Heyveld and Lori (Kyle) Padget; stepdaughters, Erica (Kevin Kading) Cooper and Kelsey Cooper; seven grandchildren, Leandra Heyveld, Skylar Heyveld, Garin Padget, Zebulin Padget, Kailyn Padget, Thea Kading and Ray Kading; and a sister, Gloria Bishop. Preceding Galen in death were his parents; and a brother, George.
