Darrell D. Dee

Darrell D. Dee, 91, of rural Baxter, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at his home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Congregational United Church of Christ may be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service.

Darrell, the son of August and Sarah (Klein) Dee, was born Oct. 29, 1929 at home in rural Baxter. He was a lifelong resident of the Baxter area and graduated from Baxter High School. Darrell was united in marriage with Shirley M. Dodd June 25, 1949, in Eureka Springs, Ark. Their 65 years of marriage included working together on the family farm, fishing, dancing and going out with friends. No matter what they were doing they were always side by side. Darrell was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Baxter Saddle Club and had served on the Baxter School Board. He loved horses and had used them to work cattle and enjoyed going to rodeos and horse shows.

Darrell is survived by his children, Bruce (Marsha) Dee of Naples, Fla., and Michele “Shelly” Mangels of Altoona; grandchildren, Christine (Joe) Reyes of Fort Myers, Fla., Kelly (Meredith) Dee of Naples, Fla., Mackenzie (Brandon) Burke of Irving, Texas, and Joseph Mangels of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Haley and Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Dee in 2014; son, Douglas Dee in 1976; and his siblings, Everett, Ivan, Vernon, Harold, Glenn and Lloyd Dee and Lorene Sabin.
