Dale H. Trout

Dale H. Trout, 92, of Newton. died Sunday, May 2, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A graveside service will be Thursday, May 6 at Center Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Center Friends Church may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Dale, the son of Cecil and Jennie (McClausland) Trout, was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Amboy. He grew up in Amboy and attended school in Kellogg and Newton, graduating from Newton High School. Dale served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Upon returning from the service, Dale played baseball for a St. Louis Cardinal farm team, trained to be a carpenter and then worked for a time at the Maytag Company in Newton as a tool and dye maker. Dale then moved to New Mexico where he worked at a nuclear lab and then to California where he worked in the Aerospace Industries. In California, he also owned and operated liquor stores. In the early 1970s, Dale returned to Iowa and worked as a certified carpenter, refurbishing many houses in the area. In April of 1976, Dale was united in marriage with Bernice Slifer in Colfax. Dale enjoyed fishing and watching John Wayne movies.

Dale is survived by his wife, Bernice Trout of Newton; sons, Michael D. (JoAnn) Trout of Newton, Thomas (Agnes) Trout of San Diego, Virgil (Terri) Tague of Laurel and Dennis Tague of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Michael J. (Karen) Trout, Matthew A. (Kelli) Trout, Levi Tague and Tyler Rook; five great-grandchildren, Mikie Trout, Lexi Trout, Meghan Trout, Lincoln Trout and Marlie Trout; his brother, Jerry (Beth) Trout of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Trout of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and Lavola Trout of Newton; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason Trout; and three brothers, Robert, Morris and Les Trout.
