Kenneth G. Duncan, 87, died Saturday morning, Feb. 13, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. He fought until his last breath the complications of Covid-19.

A time to celebrate and military rites will be held this summer. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated to Ken’s family to donate to EveryStep Hospice.

Kenneth G. Duncan, 87, was born May 27, 1933, in Linn Grove, the son of Earl Peter and Vera A. (Skinner) Duncan. He was the youngest of their five children. He was a 1955 graduate of Newton Senior High School. Ken spent his career in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country from June 7, 1950 until he retired March 31, 1974, having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring, Ken became a professional photographer, owning Old Bank Studio in Plattsmouth, Neb.

Ken was a devoted and loving family man. He loved to travel, he made it to all 50 States in his lifetime and many countries. Hitting the road in an RV, he loved to camp and play golf.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Kim (Mike) Routh and Kathi (Dave) Talsma; a son, Neil Duncan; his four stepsons, Randy (Lisa) Erickson, Greg (Judy) Erickson, Tim (Donna) Erickson and Steve Erickson; his four grandchildren, Ben Gordon, Nikki (Nick) Berry, Erica (Sean) Carlock and Brandon (Holly) Talsma; 14 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; his niece, Kathy James; great-niece, Nicholle Roybal; and cousins, Helen Robinson and Margie Vogt; and many friends. He knew no strangers. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary on Nov. 6, 2020; daughter, Katy Davenport; and four siblings, Dorothy in infancy, Buelah, Norman and Robert.
