Library Closed for Christmas
The Newton Public Library will be closed Dec. 24 – 27, in observance of Christmas. The library will resume regular hours on Monday, Dec. 29.
2026 Tiny Art Show & Silent Auction
Canvas pick-up begins Dec. 15
Display your artistic talents and support the library at our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction! Pick up a 4″x4″ canvas at the library with a $1 deposit, and create a mini masterpiece at home. Return your completed canvas no later than Feb. 9 to have your deposit returned and be included in our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction. Art will be on display inside the library Feb. 12 - 26. All submitted art will be included in our Fundraiser Silent Auction on Feb. 26, with proceeds going towards funding library projects and programs for all ages. Submissions should be family-friendly. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate!
Library New Year’s Closures
The Newton Public Library will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and remain closed on Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Regular hours will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.
Gory Stories Book Club

Do you love true crime? Join our monthly Gory Stories Book Club! Bring your lunch and join other true crime addicts to discuss a new book each month and share our favorite books, podcasts and documentaries! Copies of the book can be picked up at the library information desk. The January book selection is “When a Killer Calls” by John E. Douglas
Acrylic Paint-Along Class

Join local artist, Kirsten Warrick for an instructional paint-along class at the library! Attendees are encouraged to bring an apron; all other materials will be provided. Registration opens for library cardholders on Dec. 29. Non-cardholders are welcome to register beginning Dec. 31. Please call the library at 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+
