Local apprentices take top honors at ABC of Iowa’s Annual Craft Championships

Jaden Reeves secured first place in the HVAC competition, while Tanner Spurlin earned second place in the same category.

Two apprentices from Reeves Heating and Cooling Inc., of Newton, earned top honors at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Iowa Apprenticeship & Training Trust’s annual Craft Championships, with both excelling in HVAC.

The competition took place on Dec. 5 at the Varied Industries Building of the Iowa State Fairgrounds, featuring 28 apprentices from across Iowa competing in electrical, HVAC and plumbing categories.

Jaden Reeves secured first place in the HVAC competition, while Tanner Spurlin earned second place in the same category.

“Reeves and Spurlin successfully showcased their training and skills in HVAC at this year’s Craft Championships,” Ginny Shindelar, ABC’s vice president of education and training, said. “They should be proud of their hard work to achieve this tremendous milestone.”

Jaden Reeves will advance to the ABC National Craft Championships competition on March 18-20 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
