OWLS are ‘Making Kombucha’

Jasper County Conservation Board will host an Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors (OWLS) program at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Jasper County Armory/Annex Building in Newton. The public is invited to come for a presentation given by Mike Gilbert of Prairie City.

Gilbert grows aronia berries and will talk about the process of making kombucha. The combination of the antioxidant-rich berries and the beneficial properties of fermented tea makes aronia kombucha a refreshing and potentially healthful drink.

The OWLS program is a conservation program that encourages seniors to stay active and learn new things about the natural world.
