Newton FFA traveled to Osceola to compete in the South Central CDE (Career Development Events) day Sept. 16. The FFA traveled with 14 teams competing in their respective contests. During the day, the chapter had teams compete in livestock judging, horse judging, vet science, poultry judging, agronomy, dairy foods and farm business management.
The chapter had a fantastic day with great results. Starting with the poultry team, which placed first as a team. The team was led by Layla Purvis in fourth with all other members of the team placing top eight. In agronomy, the chapter had two teams competing in the contest. The first team was led by Alex Barr, placing first. The other team was led by Alyssa Machin, placing second.
This was a great contest with Newton having the second and third overall teams for the day. The Novice Horse team was led by Coen Whipple, placing second. There were many other contests during the day and the chapter is proud of everyone who showed up and put in their best effort at CDE day.
